We arrived in a Jodhpur right at Diwali. The property is located by a gate to the old city which serves as an entrance to a lively market. When we arrived we were concerned that it would be a loud and hectic location. We need not have been worried. There was a large courtyard which shielded us from the bulk of the street noise. Even at Diwali, it felt peaceful inside the property. There are outdoor seating areas on each level which make for comfortable places to relax midday, as well as seating places downstairs. The rooftop area was a great place to take in the Diwali lights and fireworks.
The property is close to the bazaar, the step well, temples and other sights, all within easy walking distance. The family will assist in arranging transport and tours as well with trusted drivers.
The entire property is beautifully designed and remodeled from the original family home. Every detail is thoughtfully appointed and artfully arranged. I was really impressed how well thought out every design detail is.
We reserved the king suite. The room was lovely with a comfortable 4 post bed, window looking out on the street below, comfortable seating and plenty of room. The bathroom was, once again, impeccably designed. The shower was great, there was lots of hot water and the toiletries were quite nice. Linens and towels were good quality as well. The entire place was spotless. Water and treats were left for us daily.
The family lives at the property. They allow as much, or as little, interaction as the guests like. It was a perfect balance. We were invited to their private Puja, which was very touching. It felt like such an honor to be included. When we checked in, they noticed it was my husbands birthday when they took the photo copy of his passport. They actually bought him a cake, sang happy birthday to him and helped us eat it.
Breakfast was good. Every effort was made by all the staff to ensure we were comfortable, well fed and cared for.
